PAST PROGRESSIVE OR CONTINUOS
The past progressive: is used to describe an action that was in
progress at some point in the past.

OBJECTIVE: Recognize the shortcomings that have, to learn the
grammar of past progressive or continuos

Continuos: it is indicate that a longer
action in the past was interrupted. The interruption is usually a shorter
action in the Simple Past.
Examples:

I was watching TV
when she called.
·
When the phone rang, she was
writing a letter.
·
I was listening to
my iPod, so I didn't hear the fire alarm.
·
You were not listening to
me when I told you to turn the oven off.
·
Sammy was waiting for
us when we got off the plane.

A: What were you doing when you broke your leg?
Structure for doing sentences in positive, negative and interrogative form
Positive form
Subject + was/were + (-ing) +
Complement
Example:
– Michael was watching the World Cup match.
Negative form
Subject + wasn’t/weren’t + (-ing) + Complement
Example:
– John wasn’t eating because he was feeling sick.
Interrogative Form
Was/were + Subject + (-ing) + Complement
– Was Jim doing his homework?
– Was Jim doing his homework?
